Moving to Stroudsburg area
Hello. My husband's job is transferring us to the Stroudsburg area and I am limited to what the area real estate agents will tell me. I would appreciate everyone's opinion as to area, schools, etc. as we are from the South and have no idea about the area.
First, Can you recommend the best areas to live in (Stroudsburg,vs East Stroudsburg vs. Pocono Mtn)?
We have two boys. Would you recommend a community that would be best to live in?
Also, which schools would you recommend?
I would appreciate any and all info you could give me and thanks you SO much for your help!

That area has become very crowded and there have been some issues with gangs and crime in that area. I am not sure about the schools. They also say that there are break-in's in the communities because kids are left alone during the day while the parents commute to NYC to work. You really need to come and look around the Stroudsburg area. It is not what it use to be
I am near Scranton and about an hour or so Northwest of Stroudsburg. I find that we don't have the problems that the Stroudsburg area has been seeing. We are far enough from NYC for most commuters, the people are all friendly and there are alot of up and coming communities/towns too.

Pocono Relocation Guide
I live in Saylorsburg, which is near Stroudsburg. We are much more rural, much less crime, and The Pleasant Valley school district has been good for my kids.

I live in Saylorsburg and my kids go to Pleasant Valley. I also attended the school back in the day LOL. Our area is very nice, the school is nice and safe. I would check out this area before considereing East Stroudsburg or Pocono Mountain school districts.

As my husband is working in NJ, I would have to be close enough to that area, since he is looking at a 45 min drive as it is. With that in mind, any areas that you would consider. Boy..I really do appreciate your help! It is hard to find this info out if you are not from that area. Thanks!

You can even try the Milford area. It is close to the New Jersey border too.

Didn't you say your husband was being transfered to Stroudsburg? So you'd want to be looking at areas in close proximity to stroudsburg correct? Saylorsburg as mentioned, brodheadsville, anywhere in the PV School district is within 30 minute drive to Stroudsburg.

stay away from the direct Stroudsburg/E Stroudsburg area...just read the Pocono Record for the daily crimes, home invasions, gangs, drugs....the schools are way overcrowded the taxes and outrageous..mostly due to the city people coming in and renting, which in turn overloads ths schools and raises the taxes, but they don't care , they just rent. I lived in ES for 10 years and it has gone so far down hill, we moved out of the enitre state. Not to mention, the traffic in the summer is out of control.
You may want to head towards Milford or Bangor.....Good luck you'll need it!

I'm with Poconoproud.......head south of Stroudsburg.......the kids will love the Pleasant Valley Schools, and you will have a much better land lot and home this way.
