Meeting an old college friend in Scranton . It's pretty much halfway between us . So...........bars , restaurants and nightlife , anything good out there ? We will also need a place to stay nearby . Neither one of us , or our wives has ever been to Scranton . Any help would be appreciated . Thanks .

You have the Scranton Hilton and the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel in central city. The other nice hotels are off route 81. Can only suggest the Lackawanna Coal Mine tour as something to see. No restaurant suggestions.

Where is your friend coming from? If it's from the New York City/New Jersey area, I might suggest staying at a resort in the Poconos with lots of amenities like the Woodloch resorts near Hawley off of I-84.

According to this page it doesn't open until April 1.

The museum is open on Sat. and Sunday according to their page but nothing compared to going into a mine. Anyone reading this with intentions of going bring a heavy sweater, even summer time.

The one Scranton is interesting but the No. 9 tour near Lansford is lot more interesting.

I presume you mean that it has been canceled? I hope so because it is not the best idea considering the timing.

Yes , basically cancelled . Quite unfortunate because some of us have not seen the others in over 30 years . Oh well , there's always 2021 ! Take care .
