Default Ideas for kids?

Hi everyone! I'm new here, thanks in advance for your help!

My bf and I live in Uniondale, PA (susquehanna county) with his 5 year old daughter and we are looking for activities to get her (and us) more involved in the community. She is in preschool in Forest City but she hasn't become close with any of the kids there and we haven't found the parents to be very outgoing with "playdates" etc.

My bf is very skeptical of the Carbondale YMCA because he thinks the kids there will be a bad influence on her. I'm going by to check it out this week, however, because he's into the idea of swimming lessons.

I would be willing to drive to Honesdale YMCA but they don't have a pool and I'm guessing that this more upscale area wouldn't put resources into a public program that wouldn't be as utilized.

Does anyone have info/opion? I know the schools in the carbondale area aren't great but...?
Any ideas?

Thanks!!

PS-- I'm new to NEPA, too...

Hello and welcome! I actually had to giggle when you considered Honesdale a 'more upscale' area. I'm thinking they just dont have the room for the pool in the building they are in now. How about the Dunmore Y? That's a nice place and there's lots of kids programs. I'm sure there's things closer to you to do, you just have to figure out the right people to call to get the info. Good luck
