Vegetarian/vegan restaurants in NEPA?
I'll start this off by saying that I am not vegetarian or vegan, but several of my friends are, and I was just curious as to whether there are any good restaurants in the area that cater to this crowd. It doesn't need to be a place that only serves veg cuisine, but I'm looking for ones that have clearly put enough thought and effort into it to make it better than a microwaved Boca burger.
Thanks!

I don't know of anywhere exclusively vegetarian, but Beanz cafe in Honesdale and Jill's Kitchen in Narrowsburg are two places that make a conscious effort to always have good veg options.

Not exactly in NEPA but...
Brews N' Bytes in Danville is a small vegetarian restaurant. They do have dishes containing fish (I'm not fully knowledgeable on the vegan/vegetarian thing, so I don't know how that plays into the diet!) but they are very flavorful and yummy! Good desserts too.
Great place, great family who runs it too. If you ever have to go that way, stop in and check it out!

Oooh, that's good to know.
I'm going to make an effort to check them out the next time I'm down there visiting family.
Where is it? I grew up there so I don't need directions, just the street.
Who's the family? Is it another Randello family member? Theyt seem to have a bunch of restaurants over the years. I'm itching for one of Tony's subs...you can't get anything like them in Scranton!
On another note...there are a few Indian & Thai places in & around Scranton. There's a Thai place on Adams Ave I think & Indian one not far from Kmart on Birney Ave (i think) it's Moosic. Many of those places serve a vegetarian menu as well. I can't think of names off the top of my head.

There is a Vegetarian group in the Wyoming Valley called the Vegetarian Way. They have monthly events like cooking classes, trips, vegetarian awareness stuff all centered around the vegetarian lifestyle. You should try to get in touch with them, I'm sure they can answer any questions you have on the subject (including restaraunt recommendations) I do not have a tele. #, but if you do a little research I'm sure you'll find them. Try going to The Times Leader or Citizens Voice web site and in the search page type in keyword Vegan or Vegetarian. That should be a good start.

The Indian place across from Kmart is Amber... really good. I like the China Palace in Dickson City (by chuck E cheese) they have a lot of veggie items. La Tolteca in W-B has a veggie section on their menu, but I always liked to order the fajitas with just veggies. Everything Natural in Clarks Summit isn't a restraunt, but they have a lot of good veggie and vegan sandwiches and little tables... and great shopping!

China Moon by the South Side shopping center has several mock meat dishes that are excellent, however it's really only a take out place. I recommend the General Tso's. Also, cosgroves clubhouse on Green Ridge St. has a good list of veggie options. Also, if you check ahead at Cooper's, they occasionally have a veggie special and when they do they are phenomenal. In my opinion the one cuisine this area really needs is ethiopian.

Everybody's Cafe on Main Street in Stroudsburg has an excellent vegetarian and non vegetarian menu. Very cozy atmoshpere and outside seating (weather permitting.)
