just a hint for everyone with those white or turquoise skys we all get. try shooting the picture at a minus exposure so its darker and lighten later when editing. pictures can always be lightned but once something is blown out and featurless white its gone forever.
if your using a digital slr you can get graduated density filters which go in front of the lenses and darken the skys so the picture is more even toned without destroying the sky
you can use hdr software which will take 3 pictures from which you took with your camera at 3 different exposures of the same picture and merge them . thats my favorite way of doing it .

the problem we all have is the scene has a far wider range than a camera can capture so if you are unaware it will just make your skys either blown out white or a ugly kind of turqoise

heres some pics from around lake wallenpaupack... that beautiful stone house coincidently had a fire 2 weeks ago. click run as slide show
talk about tough skys they ranged from pure gray at times to dark blue, very hard to get that kind of sky you want on some days

Very nice photos of lake wallenpaupack, mathjak. Lake wallenpaupack, and also Harvey's Lake are two that we visited a lot when I was a kid. Nice country drives, beautiful lakes, lotsa summer fun.
