Default Brodheadsville, your new Shop Rite is coming!

Well finally! I think it too years to finalize..........the new Shop Rite will be built on Weir Lake Rd and the corner of Altemose Drive. It will be 95,000 sq feet and an additional 18,000 retail space.
The new store will have a snack bar area that will sell take out beer.
Construction will begin in the fall.
I have to say that when I first went into the Kinsleys Market( now Shop Rite) I had a giggle.
I kept hearing chickens, Cluck, cluck, cluck.........." What in the World" I said to myself. There off in a corner was a three tiered chicken coop, and chickens! ( no they were not real but they sure looked it )Going around the ceiling of the store was a train...........It was a very homey, country place. They had the best baker there who taught a class on how to make cakes, and she did a glorious job with Wedding Cakes........the local resorts used her. Levels, and fountians, and bridges.........We got two smashingly ( I am not sure if that baker is still there or not)
Well, Kinsleys Market, turned to Kinsleys Shop Rite.........and now it will be a bigger and better shopping experience. Will the chickens still be in the corner, because I've grown attached?.
I have to add the Mr Z's did a wonderful addition, and I can hardly find myway around inside now. What I did love is that the "foods-to-go" area is by the front door. Bread, butter and milk are right at the door..........
Hurray! Someone got this right. No more walking to both ends of China for the daily staples. Good going Mr Z's.
Now all we need is a department store.........anyone listening?

I am overwhelmed with the new Mr. Z's Summering! I have been a bit frustrated with the constant rearangeing of products, and certainly the higher prices. As a family of five, we are sure seeing quite an increase in the grocery bill. But I do agree about that staple convenience spot at the front door. I was always a faithful Mr. Z's shopper, but I have been thinking about coming over to ShopRite to see how the prices compare. I know I will welcome a bigger ShopRite, because the Brodheadsville store is tight. Then maybe a small department store can take over the existing store? Do we know what's happening with that? Yes, the trains and chickens clucking, a Kinsleys tradition!

The lady with the cart, is just the cutest............LOL Trains and Chickens...........well I hope they get moved to the new place, it won't feel like home without them.
I do use Shop Rite more myself. I like the quality of the deli products, and the breads.
They always have good quality meats too. I just have never had a problem with that store at all.
Seeing the quick in and out of Mr Z's is a great marketing tool for them...........
People will love that. No more trudging to the back two corners..........
Cars and groceries we have covered in the West End...........thats for sure.

Boy, I just gotta wonder if we've ever passed, like two ships in the night, Summering. When I meet you, I wonder if I swear I've seen you somewhere before...lol..like Kinsley's or Mr. Z's!

JenLie is on a distinguished road
I am alittle sad how big Kinsley's has become. I remember shopping at Kinsley's when they were in Tannersville. Both Z's and Kinsley's are expensive and I do the bulk of my shopping at the Army Depot but for quick runs to the store I go to either, I watch the sales and/or buy the store brand if I can.
The corner of Weir Lake Rd and Altemose Dr? So it will be right across from Z's? Lived here all my life and I don't know many street names LOL.

Actually, that is how they always write it up in the newspapers.........but.........
It is the same spot they were talking about before . It wouldn't be across from Mr Z's, it is the part of road along side of where S/R is now. On the left where the field is.
In other words, cross at the light.........go up the hill.........you'll see litte remains of ground flags on your left.

pocopc will become famous soon enoughpocopc will become famous soon enough
Maybe a little easier to understand is the big field directly behind the old ames/jamesway shopping mall (now has the blowing ally)

I'll believe its coming in the fall when i see them break ground. There are so many rumors that fly around brodheadsville that its hard to know which is true. What ever happened to the Dunkin Donuts? First that was supposed to be in the field across from Ritas, last i heard it is supposed to go in the mall where spankys used to be... but now i don't know if they are still even planning on one.

Brian

No, I think they put the kibash on that. They put two new Dunkin Donuts in the area, one on 940 in Blakeslee, and the other on 611 in Tannersville. I am not positive, but I don't think we'll see one.
