The areas you mentioned are all different. You sound like you want an area with some nightlife and casinos. You may want to try the area near Wilkes Barre, as it is close to a casino and has lots of shopping, restaurants, and other activities. This has been discussed numerous times on the NEPA board, so you may want to do a search there and you'll find more info.

Susan -
I'm in Shohola...there's nothing here in the way of commercial places. Nice quiet rural area...a few lake communities and NO gated communities. We go into Honesdale for shopping (Walmart/Kmart/Home Depot/Weis/fast food) or down near Milford/Westfall for similar stores and shopping.
Sorry I can't help with the nightlife/party subject...married w/2 kids...I'm out of the loop on that one.
Good luck.

Hi There is a Lake called HArveys Lake a nice upscale community. Around the lake is one club/ pizza place. Also about 10 miles away is a large casino/horse racing place called Mohegan sun at Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, In that same town is lots of clubs, to see some log on to downtownwilkesbarre.org.

Medical care is lousy in the Newton, New Jersey area. Mostly everyone that comes here travels back to where they originally came from. I am severely injured from a doctor (currently with 3 lawsuits) who should have never received a medical license. It is a well known fact to many in the Milford, Shohola area. Scranton from what people tell me has excellent medical care. Take everything into consideration before you move.

The Clarks Summit area is very very nice and there are plenty of things to do. Tunkhannock is a nice little town about 30 min. from there but it's rural. That's where I am. I like the peace and quiet after living in Queens NY and NJ most of my life. I do wish we had a super Walmart though! Dickson City has all the major stores that one may need. The Mount Airy Casino isn't far from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre either.

For my family, hospital care for the most part in Scranton has been excellent in Mercy and CMC Hospitals, many relatives, and many visits over the years. My Dad is currently in Mercy hospital, saw him today and they were very attentive and explained a lot to us. I'm not a big fan of the hospital in Honesdale, and I'll just leave it at that.
There was only one time that my Mom could not get care for a medical situation and had to travel to Allentown to a Women's Hospital there. I was skeptical, but as it turned out, that hospital (forget the name) was the right place for her.
I agree with High Hat, do your homework first as everyone's needs and desires for an area are different.
