New movie theatre to open soon in Matamoras
It's supposed to open July 8th, according to the sign outside. I think it's called the Westfall 7 Cinemas. I can't see how they can fit a multiplex in the old Grand Union store, but I think it's nice to have a movie theatre close by this area. Guess I won't be around when it opens, but it's still good for the area. A nice change from in front of the TV once in a while...like the good 'ol days.

There is also a new Dollar Store a few stores up from there. I've been in there..it's HUGE for a dollar store. I like it...lots of party supplies and typical dollar store "junk"... My favorite kind of store....lol...

I still miss the drive in movie theatre in Westfall. Went there growing up and it was awesome (now where Price Chopper is). I think it will be great as long as it does not become a loitering area for kids - like way the movies are at the Crystal Run Galleria in Middletown.

If it's like the one down in Bushkill (or is it Marshall's Creek?), it won't be very good. The rooms are small, the screens are small and there isn't much slope for the seating from the rear to the front of each room. This means, unless you're tall, you'll barely be able to see over the head of the person sitting in front of you. I'd rather drive to a "real" movie theater in Rockaway or Middletown.

How much can they fit in the Grand Union? Unless they only have like 2-3 screens. Weird location.

Rockaway is nice, but I prefer the Palisades Mall when I am back home. It is one stop shopping............movie, bowling, and resturants all in one location......and an ice cream parlor!! Love those old fashion ice cream parlors.

I hadn't thought about the loitering possibility. I guess I like the idea of a theater, just because it's close by. Those tiny theaters aren't like ones I'm used to, with dome ceilings and plush seating, but once the movie starts, I don't think much about it really. To me, the most important thing would be cleanliness...as long as it's clean.
I didn't know about the dollar store. The shopping center could use a better selection of stores, however.

Loitering at movie theaters
Kids play video games all the time, adults complain, "why don't they go out and do something." Kids loiter at movie theaters, adults complain. Bottom line seems to be that adults resent and abuse teenagers, and then wonder why they are resentful in return.

Hey,
Yeah, I've been wondering how they're going to do it. Unless they're digging downwards, because they sure ain't going up.
The wife and I have been making the trek out to the Cinemark out in Moosic, near Scranton. That theater is awesome. Stadium seating, super clean, good clientèle.
We were going to head out to Middletown until the locals around here said, "Hell no! Go West young man!"
We weren't disappointed.
