Default With Gas Prices High, Laurel Run is a Park

I just have stopped driving when I don't need to really. It just isn't fun driving 20 miles to a park once a week anymore.

I was walking the dog and kept looking over at Georgetown and just got thinking about the rocks right past there on Laurel Run and how I see cars there all the time. I finally decided to drive up there which is only a about a one mile drive from me. Well, it has become the new park destination for me and the missus with doggie. It is nice and woodsy with a bunch of trails, you just need to keep your ears and eyes out for four-wheelers. We did see one today on the other side of the road. It is otherwise a great close place to walk and enjoy the nature without going too far. I saw a deer recently there and the air has that great smell of the forest.

My next jaunt for close park style atmosphere will be 115 shortly past the hospital. I always see cars parked on the right going up and it looks like a trail so I figure to check it out.

Happy Summer just a few weeks away and with temps I guess we are already there.

I believe that would be what we locals have dubbed "The Tubs." I thought it was illegal to venture down there, but then again if the locals drive their ATVs up and down Highway 315 just to play chicken with tractor-trailers, I don't see what's stopping them from trespassing on private property. LOL!

The spot off of 115 I haven't checked but if it is considered illegal then it isn't worth as it is a farther drive anyway
