Default Best Lakes in NEPA

Hello all,

I'm new to this site, but have lived in NEPA most of my life. The wife and I have become interested in looking a lakefront property/houses but have only ever visited a few (Wallenpaupack/Winola). Any others that people can recommend would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Well for a Lakefront property house...........
I'd look into Towamensing Trails ( non- motor boat lake)or Harmony Lake off of 115/940 area.( which is a motor boat lake)
Emerald Lakes is another nice lake or even Lake Naomi. ( smaller lake, quieter...)
All of these are non gated so you can just take a nice Sunday drive and look around.

Our family has a nice cabin on Paupakan Shores in Lakeville. Great lake with a swim beach, fishing, and no gas motors. Really quiet and peaceful.

Some townships are making permitting quite a difficult and lengthy process as of late. Be sure to ask about wetland studies/wetland delineations when purchasing lake/stream/river front properties. (If planning to build as opposed to buy existing)

Harvey's Lake is very beautiful, but it is now being discovered by new transplants; housing prices are rising accordingly. I believe there are just under a half-dozen homes for sale right now in the borough in excess of $1,000,000, with some pushing $2,000,000! I just passed a Maserati on my commute home from work this evening, so apparently money is starting to find its way into our area.

Eagles Mere and Lake Mokoma (Laporte) in Sullivan County are beautiful, but expensive.

For year round living, I really like the ones in northern Susquehanna Co (Quaker Lake, Silver Lake, etc) because you can be in downtown Binghamton in less than 15 mins for a nice dinner, sports event, hospital, etc.
