I know there have been a few other posters with your question, try the search feature. It's on every forum page, search this forum, and type in pocono modular home builders.

I never personally recommend modular companies, and do your homework well. Very few of them are what you'd call turn key, or soup to nuts. You may have an awful lot of responsibilities on your plate, that you would not have to deal with by building a "stick built" home. Also, trying to get a general contractor to run the jobsite, isn't always easy either, because the contractors feel that the modular company should have more of an active responsibilty after the home is dropped at the site.

Many don't realize that a modular can end up costing just as much as any stick-built home, and most consider a modular because they believe they will save money.

If you decide to research stick-built builders in addition to modular, send me a direct message, I will give you an informative web site.

Avoid Wyoming Homes. There was just a horror story on the local news the other day about a man whose life was ruined because he paid for a modular home that he never received. He's now living in a camper, his wife has filed for divorce, and the president of the company fobbed off the media when they tried to interview him.

Yes, ScranBarre, you are absolutely right. They are out there with picket signs. What a shame. I wonder if the A.General got involved.

Depends where you want to build. I can tell you who to stay away from in Dingmans Ferry. Have an excellent builder who is very busy in the lake area. DM me if you need more information.

Hi Philly,
I am currently having a modular built. I used D&D construction which are located across from the Hideout at Remax best. They deal with Pleasant Valley Homes, Modular*Homes - Pleasant Valley Modular Homes, Inc. - Welcome. My home is going to be ready in about 2 weeks and so far I am happy. I have seen their model homes and they are beautiful. They have wood floors in the living room and dining room and also the kitchen. They also add a front covered porch, and some of their homes come with a screened porch and a small deck. The homes are very nice. The people at D&D are also nice. No complaints at all, and I only heard good things about them.

I went to Pleasant valley and went into their modulars on site. They have alot to choose from (as you will see on the website).

Whats great is you can change anything you want and make a home as big or as small as you want.
Good luck with your choice. Stay away from Shorten Homes. We went there first and amazingly enough we couldn't get a return call and we were serious buyers. I called there 3 times and only got a return call once, they left a message and never even bothered to call back. That was a bad sign so we decided not to go any further with them.

In about a month I can tell you more because I will be in my new
home .

I understand --Fine Line Homes -- in Hazleton is great. I have seen some of their
homes on Lake Winola and they sure look like stick built.

LIMAMA4, when we first decided to build we looked into shorten homes. I wasnt happy with them for the simple fact that I left many messages to speak to a salesperson and never got a return call. That made me think "If they arent returning calls to a prospective buyers what will they do when I purchase the home and need to contact them." We are using D & D construction located in Remax in Lake Ariel. Our house will be ready next week and so far I am very, very pleased. If you want more info send me a personal note.
