Default Vandalism in Marcel Lakes

Hi all members. I am writing to ask for some help. Twice this week we have had the pool vandalized. We also had some people put paver style bricks across the entrance and exits of the community, blocking vehicles from passing through.

The people involved seem to know when our security stops their shift.

We have some video of the parties involved moving the bricks around, and the vehicle they were in was a large black van/suv. Any information would be great.

The community is suffering because of these people. The pool has been shut down because all the lights have been cut, some of the furniture was stolen, stop signs were removed, and the fence was torn down in one section.

Thanks for the help!

Motion activated lights, motion activated sprinkler... motion activated German Shepherd?

The sprinkler is probably a great idea, they make them to keep deer away from gardens etc. The vanadal gets wet and probably the crap scared out of him as well.

Can you put --Clorox or Dye-- in the sprinklers As bad as things are
with the economy, price of gas, food, jobs, etc... Some people have
nothing better to do than make it even harder on our 'neighbors'

I'd like to put BB's in the sprinklers! They'd remember that for a looooonng time!

They already ripped the wires out of ALL of the motion sensors twice!

What a shame! We knew Marcel Lakes back in the 1970's when things were nice. What about a neighborhood watch program. Everyone communicates so that the troublemakers are caught.

Upbring, no adult supervison (parents working long hours) and lastly some bring their problems with them from other areas.

I have a theory of nipping things when they first happen so they do not spiral out of control.

Default Marcel security

Hi,
I am seriously considering a house in Marcel Lakes, and while doing some research I came across your forum. I am curious about the vandalism problem, and how serious it is. Is this an ongoing problem, or something new? Bored teenagers, or serious criminals?
I was wondering also about the gated entrance, and why the gate is never down. I've been told there is a security guard who patrols the grounds, but from reading your discussion I gather it is not 24 hr. security. It seems to me that 24 hr. security would solve the vandalism problem, or at the very least be a huge deterrent.

I have also heard there are some problems regarding the sewer system, and was wondering if anyone had any updated information on that.

Marcel Lakes seems to be a lovely community at first glance, and a place my family and I would enjoy living. Any insight or update on the security issue would help us to make a decision. Any other comments would also be appreciated.

Thank you from a potential new neighbor.
