Welcome to PA, it is just the way many contractors do business. We experienced this when we built our first house. Nobody calls you back, they tell you they are coming and never show up. I hope you get some recommendations here, I am not familiar with your area. A suggestion would be do not pay them the entire amount until the work is done to your satisfaction. Good luck. Hat

We used Advanced Builders out of Pittston Township to renovate our kitchen about two years ago, and we were very, very pleased with the quality of their workmanship. My parents invested about $30,000 into that kitchen, and now it is the showplace of the subdivision. It's absolutely stunning. The only thing I didn't appreciate was having to pick up all of their cigarette butts from our driveway, but that's a small price to pay for quality workmanship. Besides, it seems like 99.9% of the people in NEPA smoke anyways, so that's something to which I've just become accustomed (then again, I probably shouldn't start yet ANOTHER smoking debate here! LOL!) Their number is (570)654-5775.

My former friend's father, Frank Carey, also runs a successful construction business out of the Pittston suburbs. He developed a large portion of the Highland Hills subdivision, and I believe he's also been one of the primary builders with the new River Shores gated community in West Pittston. His number is (570)655-2374.

I echo ScranBarre's sentiments on Frank Carey, Carey Construction. They are predominantly large home builders, but they took the time out to knock down a wall in our bedroom. They did a beautiful job, including replacing some wood flooring. I was surprised they accepted such a little job, but they treated us just as they would one of their big time customers. Frank is a really nice guy. He even said he's come back to help install my crown moulding. Highly reccomend him.

my new neighbor recomended another neighbor Joe Tierney Masonry. I asked my neighbor who did his great patio and he said he would tell Joe i wanted to talk to him. Next morning, i kid you not, Mr. Tierney was walking up my steps. He explained everything and gave me ideas for improvement that i already had but didn't say to him. Guy seems honest and a little chatty, just like me. The cherry on the pie was that he underbid my inlaws contractor by alot. Thanks for all your help forum people.

Default Greg Slack in Scranton he is in the book

After numerous people I had given up hope on finding a contractor that finished the job - Lowes quoted me $15k to do siding on just the back of our house - he did the full house with shutters and for $10k - we had been flooded after the storm a few years ago - he did our roof and a massive big deck - got me an electrician also - this guy was great he had been recommeded to me by someone else.

Showed up every day at 7am never missed a day - he had about 4 people working with him. Greg is professional and honest and fair.

Greg is the best. If you get him our he will do a great job.
