Those windmills along the ridge near Waymart are turbines used for wind energy. I believe it is exported to NJ, but I could be mistaken. If you travel U.S. Route 6 you'll pass through Carbondale, the Mid-Valley communities, the Viewmont Mall area, the outskirts of Scranton (a diversion into the city might be nice), Clarks Summit (where you can visit coartist88), Tunkhannock (where you can annoy memoriesbre), Wyalusing (where you can eat at the fabulous Wyalusing Hotel), Towanda, Troy, Mansfield, Wellsboro, the PA Grand Canyon, Coudersport, and a few other communities en route to Presque Isle State Park in Lake Erie. It's a trip I've always wanted to take myself, but given the high price of gas I don't know if I'll ever be able to afford it.

For sure a great route. I would highly recommend a stop at Wellsboro. It looks like a New England village. When we visited they had a community band play at the bandshell/gazebo. There was a great diner in town and the people were very friendly. We stayed one night at the motel in town. I love Wellsboro. We visited the PA Grand Canyon and the state parks there.
Stop by the high rocks of Assylum to see where Marie Antioinette was planning to reside before she and a few of her close friends sort of lost their heads.Bad pun..sorry.
As for Waymart, I used to attend a summer camp there as a kid. It was run by the Polish National Church - on a dairy farm of all things. Sponja Farms. We used to walk into the town to buy candy and ice cream. Lots of cow patties to avoid on the way to the luxurious farm pond, no shortage of fun cow tipping and the like.

We were exicted to find Denny's, Borders and OMG Wegmans!!! Fell in love with it and will be back tomorrow.........what a classy place!!!! Wow, I wish they had one a little east........
Carbondale was interesting, and Waymart was interesting too! We were awed by a set of Windmills on a Mountain. I have heard that Lake Moosic is beautiful as well. It was great to get out and venture to Scranton through the backroads. I hope I can find some better directions to all the areas. ScranBarre, if you are out there, I know you have the answers
Looking forward to our next day trip Montage Mountain.
BTW, has anyone dealt with Aurel's TV and Appliances??
