Default Why did the Scranton Post change the results of their poll???

The Scranton Post on their web site is running a poll:

Do you think that the sale of Channel 61 to Electric City TV is fair?
Absolutely, Yes.
Absolutely not! It's totally unfair.
I'm not sure -- dont really have an opinion.
Yes, but with no grant.
What's Channel 61?

When I checked it on Saturday the Absolutely, Yes had almost 100 votes. Today when I checked the results the Absolutely, Yes and the I'm not sure -- don't really have an opinion results were changed to make it look as though 100 votes were not yes but I'm not sure.

What's up with that? There goes their creditibility, can't trust them now.

Default WHY WE CHANGED OUR POLL, by Bill Matzik

YES, we did change our poll results on the website. In an effort to upgrade our software package, we manually copied the names for each option in the poll from the old database to the new database, and then looked at the poll and transferred the results to the new poll. I neglected to notice the fact that the old poll sorted results from highest votes to lowest and goofed. This error existed for about 48 hours before realizing. The logs were reviewed and the proper poll results were manually computed and the poll fixed.

In no way was this on purpose. It was a mess up on my part.

The poll was since fixed, and both software packages have since been abandoned in pursuit of a custom solution that makes the site more dynamic and fun to use.

My sincerest apologies to all who saw the erroneous poll.

Bill, I applaude your efforts to have a second paper in the area. just make sure you stay credible....you have a great opportunity to get readership amongst those unhappy with the times....dont take the bait and become a polarized paper like them....
