Hahaha, that's funny.

I thinks this is so neat...the pictures are so crisp and clear, a lot clearer than Google Earth. Anyone know how recent these are, and how often they're updated?

I believe these may be from last summer. In my neighborhood the pools are open in the imagery, which implies it is during one of the warmer months. Oddly enough though when you rotate around my home you are given several different images taken at several distinctively different times---in some my car is the only one in the driveway, in one my father's pick-up is the only one in the driveway, and in yet another there's nothing. I don't know how often they're updated, but it's certainly not frequently enough for my tastes as I'm loving this stuff!

Aren't there any developments around here that actually keep some trees intact? I can name a few like Laurel Brook Estates and Glendalough, but by and large suburbanites seem to be very NIMBY against trees (along with everything else, but I digress). I never fully realized just how wealthy the Pittston Area School District was until this feature came out, and I could see sprawling development after sprawling development surrounding the rotting core of Pittston City. What a shame.
I would most certainly want some trees in my yard for shade. You see, when I first moved up to PA from NY, I lived in the Hideout. My family liked the privacy and it was a getaway from the bustle that we just came from on Long Island. Then I moved to Scranton and this city, to me, isn't what it's cracked up to be. Since I'm not moving back to Long Island, I would like to get a place somewhere away from Scranton in a rural area, not necessarily one of those subdivisions. I just found out that Scranton is not for me and I'm just biding my time saving money, waiting to leave. I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone from moving here. You have to experience it for yourself to know if it's right for you. After six years, Scranton isn't right for me.

Should be noted that 'Bird's eye' doesn't work with firefox 3.

Had to switch over to IE

I recently went from my old computer that had Windows 98 to a new computer that has Windows Vista. I knew about Google Earth and the bird's eye view, but the Street View is really something else!! My mom and I spent hours going through the neighborhood she grew up in in Queens, NY. It was as if we were driving down the street in a car. You can stop at any point (seems to go about 50 feet at a time) and turn completely around. As you play around with it, you'll find that you can also pan up toward the sky...if you want to see the top of a building. It is not every street, but in neighborhoods like that, you can go down most of the streets.

We visited the homes of my dad, the schools they went to, the pool they swam in, the church they were married in and on and on. She said much is still the same. We then traveled all over the place. A few times the thing seemed to freak out and before we knew it, we couldn't stop it and we were somewhere up state in a matter of seconds. Pretty funny.

I can imagine there will be a lot of complaints regarding privacy. At first we didn't see people and we kept saying, where are all the people? We kept joking about that. Then all of a sudden, they seemed to be all around as we were going past them. I didn't notice anyone give us the finger though.

Most of the Northeastern states just had there Satilite images upgraded last summer , I pinpointed between June-August of last year. Some areas are still waiting to be redone , same with Streetview. Google is upgrading that slowly from the Urban areas and outwards.
