Yes that is a Mannings. You're talking about that strip mall between Burger King and Friendly's and the YMCA, right?
I'm waiting for the Manning's to open near me in the new "Jay's Commons" strip mall being built on Main Ave in West Side, but you'd swear they were building a skyscraper with how long the construction is taking. (construction projects seem to be slow around here....it seems they've been working forever on the new parking garage/transportation center on Washington St in Wilkes-Barre with very little progress so far). I guess we'll have it open in time to have Manning's ice cream in time for winter..
Although the best way to enjoy Manning's ice cream is to go to the original location on the farm...I'm not sure exactly what town/township that is, but its kind of near Dalton and is close to the Scott exit of I-81. Its an authentic experience with the cows and the smell of manure in the air..

Yes, that is the location I was thinking about but the farm sounds like a true experience. I might have to try the city version first since I know where that is

Is anything at Gables homemade? I don't think it is. It's expensive too but it is nice they have that play area for the kids.
Best icecream in our area is Sweet Creams Cafe IMO. Pricey too but oh so good!

I drive by that place all the time en route from my partner's home to That Shake Place. I really should give Peggie Sue's a try sometime.

We stopped going to shake place this year. Since we come from the Ledgedale side of Hamlin shake place is much further away than Peggie Sues. I always liked the shakes at shake place but these are just as good and much better on my gas tank!

Thanks for the Tips
We tried the Shake Place last night on our way back with carry-out from Kundla's for BBQ. Had a good time sipping my shake and then coming back and sitting on my deck. Still unpacking boxes so it was a great break

Lora's Cakes & Cones in Simpson is good. She's right up the road from me w/in walking distance. Very clean establishment, nice staff, has awesome baked goods, (The Brownie Sundae is good!) and reasonable prices. Yummy!
Also I love Maureen's down in West Nanticoke on Creek Rd. My parents are from that area of Luzerne Co., (Moved because in the 70's jobs were scarce back then too, but have since retired where they grew up.) Every summer when I came up Jersey (Yeah, I'm a So. Jersey/Philly Burb Native.) my dad being from Hunlock Creek always stopped there. It's a nice childhood memory of mine. Maureen's have the best portions for your dollar! I was just there a few weeks ago w/my mom. And you can't beat relaxing by the creek while eating your ice cream. That place gets so busy in the evening, but is worth it!

You're a native of the South Jersey Philly burbs and you ended up in Simpson? That had to have been major culture shock.
