You're referring to your dog, right?

Yes. My previous pampered pooch recently had to be put down, and now my "My Dog Digs Scranton" bone-shaped bumper sticker doesn't make much sense. I want a little fur ball running amok again!

I hope its not a giant waste of taxpayer money like the Pittston project, I go across that bridge frequently and maybe saw someone down there about 1 or 2 times out of thousands. For it to be successful they are going to need more than just benches and a walkway. They need an attraction. The proposed dam would have definitely provided that because they'd be able to put a boat launch in for larger boats.
I'm still waiting for the big ice jam that's going to come along and cause thousands of dollars in damage. The one in Pittston is on bend and that's where all the ice gravitates too. We haven't had a good ice flow in years, maybe since I was kid. The brick construction, shrubbery etc is not going to stand up to that punishment for an extended period of time.

The "white elephant," also known as Pittston's Riverfront Park, has indeed flooded on numerous occasions, leaving behind a muddy mess on the paved walkways. Maintenance at this park is very poor. The city is so impoverished that it often relies on volunteer groups to help keep the park in decent shape. The last time I was down there I was alone except for a few foul-mouthed skater punk pre-teens who proceeded to say something derogatory to me about my presumed sexual orientation. It's nice to see that the children in Pittston are growing up to be just as well-educated as their illustrious parents.

Personally I take offense to that. Ironic that you're lambasting a bunch of teenagers then follow it up with something as immature as that. Am I to assume you think everyone is below your education level in Pittston City?
Back on topic the flooding is not the primary issue however that park is not meant for a flood prone area. I don't think it was bad idea however it could have done much cheaper and in a more suitable fashion for the area its in.

I've grown up and lived my whole life here. I've been here long enough to form a judgment that I would not feel comfortable raising my children amongst many of those here in Pittston who raised their children to harass others for being gay, black, or in any other way "different" for that matter. Infer what you wish from this "educationally," but I'm moving to Scranton in the future because it appears as if it has more diversity and those who live there embrace it instead of battle it.
