Default Old Home Week: Forest City

Here is another good Pocono event:

"Old Home Week" will be held in Forest City. Today July 31st thru Sunday. There will be crafts, vendors, and plenty of food. The event is held downtown.

This wonderful happening has been ongoing for 25 years.

It opens at 9AM

Saturday there is a perogie eating contest.............Whos game?

For more information it should be on WNEP's web site.

Have Fun!

Well, I guess no one lives by Forest City? I thought it was up Scranbarres way........
It sure looked like fun on TV.
I'd go for the crafts........the perogie contest, not for me.

Forest City is in Susquehanna County, north of Carbondale. It's probably a half-hour to thirty-five minutes north of Scranton. It's just a bit of a haul with how gas prices are.

I live near the town. It is a nice event for the town with "a mile of hospitality." Friday night: fireworks. 8pm Flaxy Morgan. Saturday, 1pm: Parade. Pierogi Eating Contest: 3pm. Evening (according to F.C. News) Mechanical Bull Riding 7pm: Iron Cowboy. Sunday: Chicken BBQ, Kennedy Park at noon. Also at noon, Cow Plop Bingo 2pm: Pet Show; 3pm: Hat Show; Bounce House and Water Wars - Kennedy Park. There are food vendors in a supermarket parking lot, crafts along the sidewalks, etc. If you want good pizza, stop in Giuseppe's - Excellent! But, if you really want to make a worthwhile trip to Susquehanna County, hop on I-81 the week of the 18th for the Harford Fair, in Harford. That is definitely worth the trip each year.

I think it sounds like a real hunk of fun. But, the Cow Plop Bingo.........Ah..........I donno'. The Pet Show sounds fun..........The Hat Show too.
Doylestown does a few of these, and it just makes their town so appealing.
I wish the town was a bit closer to me. Right now the closest thing is the West End Fair coming soon in Aug. too!
