I thought this link I found was quite interesting. It uses IRS database information to provide rather accurate statistics regarding migratory patterns so that one could see what counties Americans moved to and from during the period of 2000-2005. Here are some local statistics:

It's also interesting to note that for this time period the IRS projected 1,042 more people moved into Luzerne County than out of Luzerne County. The top out-of-state relocation destinations, not surprisingly considering our graying population, were Arizona and Florida. The top spot for new transplants was, of course, New Jersey and New York City.

I found the following interesting for Luzerne County:

• 622 More People Moved Into Luzerne County from Lackawanna County Than Vice-Versa
• 2,556 People Moved to Luzerne County from NYC While Only 433 Luzerne County Residents Moved to NYC, a Net Change of +2,123
• Nearly Twice as Many People Moved to Luzerne County From the Poconos as Those Who Moved From Luzerne County to the Poconos
• Seven More Reidnents Moved to Onslow County, NC, Home of Campe Lejeune, Than Moved Back From The Base

[Georgia to Northeast PA]

Interesting no one moved to or from Georgia. I guess next stats for 2006-2010 there will be 2 moved from Georgia

They only report migrations of 10 or more people from one place to another. Unless 8 others move from your former county in Georgia into Lackawanna County, PA, then you won't show up.
