Default Charter School/Snow

I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the Fell Charter school? I was reading up on it online and it seems very good. Also...how much snow should I expect on the ground in the Carbondale area in the winter and approximately how long does is last? I lived in the poconos growing up and I always noticed that Carbondale schools closed more than mine. lol. I am hoping to relocate to the area in March 09. Thanks!!

Carbondale is a very, very hilly town, hence why the schools there probably close more frequently than in Monroe County, where you're at a higher elevation but the hills are generally more gradual. I would say that Carbondale probably averages around 55 inches of snow per season. Generally speaking if 3-6 inches are predicted in Scranton, which sits at about 750 feet above sea level, expect 4-8 inches in Carbondale, which sits at about 1,000 feet above sea level, and perhaps 6-12 inches to the hillier areas outside of town like Union Dale and South Canaan, where elevations may reach 2,000 feet above sea level. We typically have a "January thaw" every season---several days of sunshine and temperatures moderating into the 60s. This area isn't like the Arctic Tundra, especially with global warming causing the past few winters in particular to be very tame (save for the Valentine's Day 2007 Blizzard). We've been at or below average in terms of snow fall for quite a number of years now. I'm hoping for a very, very snowy season in 2008-2009 to help reverse that trend.
