To my delight I found a close second at Grotto's up in your neck of the woods. If you want to experience a near replica of Chicago pizza have Grotto's thin crust "Works" pizza. It's so amazing, as is the sauce, which to me is what makes or breaks a pizza!!!
We drove out of our way by an hour on a recent trip to PA so I could visit Grotto's again (and Wegman's the most amazing grocery store ever!!) and have some pizza. Now that I'm talking about it I'm ready to get in the car and head up there again! I love my favorite pizza place in Chicago, but Grotto's in Wilkes-Barre is a heck of alot closer of a drive!! Try it, you'll like it!!

Wow...the pizza must be really bad in NC for you to think that Grotto is good. No offense, but I think Grotto is bottom of the barrel around here....even makes Domino's and Goodfella's taste good in comparison.

When dining several months ago at the Perkins in Pittston Township I had to spit out a large piece of plastic that was in my food. It looked like one of those tabs that go around the necks of the bread loaf bags you buy in a grocery store. My partner told me to tell somebody about it, but I'm not the type to cause a scene. I've had some awful experiences lately with Perkins, but I've had even worse experiences with the Wilkes-Barre Township Denny's (what's with the staring problems that other patrons have with my partner and I there), and there's not many places to get breakfast in the Pittston/Wilkes-Barre area. The Waffle House in Scranton is always a good bet though.

The Perkins in Stroudsburg, just outside of town is fine. Clean place, very busy.........
We once got a huge, huge, carpenters staple.........(those gigantic ones) inside a meatball from our favorite Pizza place in NJ. That was a bit of a scare. But, they
normally were great for pizza, and were in business a long time..........so forgiven.
( gosh, never even called to tell them, now theres a mistake )
My two favorite Pizza places are in Surfside Beach, SC is Anthony's ( kinda a crispy, crunchy crust) or Nino's.....full of cheese.
Here in PA my favorite is Mikes, and he's a very nice guy too..!

I hear there's a lot of trouble with gangs hanging out at the Waffle House in Scranton on Davis Street. Twin Rocks truck stop off of I-84 south of Hamlin has a good breakfast and I know you're in that area quite a bit Paul.

You're right. Here's some graffiti from the Waffle House gang:
