Great pix!! That looks like SO much fun!! I haven't been to a fair in years!!

I saw in one of the pix they have "deep fried pickles".... After my mom's funeral, I took everybody to the local diner & saw the pickles on their menu too, but didn't try 'em...

Has anyone eaten them?? Whatta they taste like & whatta ya serve on 'em?? I don't know whether they intrigue me or skeeve me...

I went (again) today, and while it was more crowded than yesterday, it was nothing like what the "last day" attendence usually is. It was great for the family, easy to walk around and get to where you were going. We left around 4pm, and the sky was brightening up. A good night there, maybe?

As for the deep-fried pickles, my best friend gets them every year. She can't really describe the taste but just says, "if you like pickles you'll love them this way!" Personally, I go for the "ores" and the twinkies, and my daughters love them too! Didn't get to try the deep-fried ice cream sandwich this year; I guess I'll have to put that on my "to eat" list for next year!

Your pics are great Ken...I'm so mad that I didn't get to go there this year, especially after seeing the pics! Thanks for sharing though.

Is this considered a "good" figure?

Default Slightly Lower

I believe it's down a couple thousand from previous years.

I grew up in Danville, just 10 miles away, and it was customary to attend at least once. When I was in high school I worked at the fair, tearing the shows down and loading them on trucks. Now, decades later, I live just two blocks away and this year visited on a daily basis, sometimes several times a day. My work took me there and I exhibited, as I mentioned earlier. With each visit I focused on finding new things. It was a great adventure, not having to do as much as possible on a single visit! I took at least 2,000 photos and kept just what was posted here.

Hope to see some of you at the next HotRod Gridlock next year!
