Thanks AmeriKenArtist those are great pictures. I love the Bloomsburg fair. Except for the year we were "parked" on the highway for about 5 hours. My tickets to Randy Travis went to waste...........as the clock ticked on. We just barely got to our reserved room by eleven, when it would have gone to whomever arrived by then.
And there are "no rooms at the Inn" all around Bloomsburg, unless you book way ahead. ( We lived in Jersey at the time)

Default Just Curious...

Who is planning to visit the Great Bloomsburg Fair this year? I'm not familiar with all of the locations of the regular posters here, but who will be traveling the farthest? For those who choose to share, what is the highlight of your Fair experience? Just curious...

Default We're fair junkies!!

We've been going to the fair since we first moved to Bloomsburg in 1992. It's now a tradition for us, and even though we're a bit further away now, we still plan on going 2 days this year. (we used to go almost every day!) One thing I learned is, if you want to get a hotel room for any day during fair week, book FAR FAR FAR in advance!!

My daughter entered several of the exhibits last year, coming away with 1st place for her science experiment, and honorable mentions for her in black and white and color photography. Sadly, if you're not a resident of Columbia or Montour counties you can't enter (we called and asked for her - )

Anyway, we love going into the education and arts & crafts building and seeing all the talents of area residents. Then, of course, it's off to eat, eat, and eat some more!! Don't worry about calories, just keep walking - you'll burn 'em off!!

And, if you don't have tickets for any of the evening events, check out the free stage - great acts there and no charge!

You really don't get much for $4.00 anymore - but it's well worth the price!!

Default Phew!

I just finished a painting that will be exhibited with the North Mountain Art League, in the Arts & Crafts Building. I plan on having at least four pieces of artwork in the group exhibit. Kenneth Conner, artist of graphite renderings and sepia tone prints will give you an idea of the traditional work I do. My paintings are more creative and are made up of bright colors. The painting I just completed is a closeup (very!) of a monarch butterfly.

Polaris is on a distinguished road
I LOVE the Fair! Been going there since maybe the 1950's. Nothing much has changed since I walked around it with my parents back then. Used to love the rides but now just go for the food and games and exhibits. And it never fails, no matter how crowded it is you always bump into someone you know!
And every year I always go home with a candy apple and funnel cake.
Think what I love most there is the Orange Julius drink.
I remember when I was little winning a goldfish and my father having to stop in Ben Franklin's in Shickshinny to buy a bowl and food!
We always drove down on Route 11 from Nanticoke. To this day I love driving down that way.

I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your work when we're there. Thanks for letting us know about your entries! Good luck!
