Default Moving from NY to PA

Hope someone can help us. We are moving to PA at the end of Nov. My husband has his heart set on Tunkhannock. We are tring to get hold of a good realtor for house rentals. We are also tring to find out what activities are there for children. I have a girl who is a dancer and a son into wrestling and both into martial arts. I would appreciate any help that could be offered. Thanks

Hi, I am in Tunkhannock too!! We are originally from NY also. You can try Endless Realty. You can even look up homes from Mulligan's Pennysaver or the local paper which is the Wyoming County Examiner.

I have no advice for you, I just wanted to say hello. I also have a son who's into wrestling. He is currently in the 8th grade, and took last year off - he's getting back into it this year. We are also a family heavily into WWE wrestling, even though it's not the same as "real" wrestling, we still love it.

We are thinking of moving to the area full-time if my husband's job interview goes well, if we can sell our house, etc. etc. etc. Everything has to fall into place.

How old are your kids? We have three boys, 20, 18 and 13. Today we found a house we'd love to live in - in Tanglwood, which I guess is in Greentown. It's just beautiful.

Good luck in your search,
Lisa

Hi,Welcome to the Pocono's!I know Pleasant Valley School District has a wrestling team and there are martial arts and dance classes in town(Brodheadsville). When you move here look in the phone book.I'm sure they have these things further up the mountain. One thing different from NY is what is called "snow days".You have to watch the tv to find out if there is a delay (usually 2hrs) or if school is cancelled.Starmom

I too am from NY and moving up to PA

Been researching for a long time. Penn Estates is a very nice community and the houses are gorgeous. That's the good news.

I have noticed that in comparison to other nearby areas the taxes are enormous and the community dues are $1040 per year. When I was researching and pricing out homes the average for taxes + dues was over $5,500 per year. I am sure folks who live there can give some more in depth information, but honestly the taxes and dues are really not worth it in my opinion. Good luck!
