I guess I also get bitter at anti-catholicism...it seems to be one of the last accepted prejudices.

It would be a pretty short sermon, since there are virtually *no* benefits to voting for Obama.

The Bishop is cherry picking here. As a Catholic I am voting for Obama because his positions are more in line with the teachings of church. Examples, fighting poverty, capital punishment, healthcare, equal rights, ending the war (the one the Pope asdvised W not to start). The President does not decide if abortion is legal or not. The President does not have that power, or authority. We were told 8 years ago to vote for W because of the abortion stance.......Well??? What happened? Abortion is still legal. W had both houses, and a majority of Republican supreme court appoitnees! Don't take Martino's bait, in my opinion he's just a Republican, and he should resign his position as Bishop for the damage he is causing to our church community in Scranton. Martino has to face God just like we do. Also we have the Republicans to thank for Roe vs Wade, it happend with thier court, and Nixon in the Whitehouse.

I have been reading this site for quite awhile. I rarely post but Scranbarre really struck a cord with me.
If you are so firmly behind your beliefs you should leave King's immediately!
I am also wondering why you never mention anything about Obama and Rev Wright or Father Phlager or William Ayers or Revco. How come you are not upset about Obama's church and all the political hatred they spew out? Are you going to take action against them as well?
I still can't believe the Dems voted him in over Clinton.

Actually...
Or more correctly, maybe, the people didn't want Bill back in the White House. I think the "Monica" fiasco went deep in to collective unconscious.

Exactly. But they're great for fundraising and creating the atmosphere of guilt.
