Lancaster, Hershey or Poconos?
Del
She must have meant Illegal Immigration, which is a crime. We follow laws, so make the Illegal's do the same. Hey just by sneaking over the border is a horrible crime. Out here in Vegas we have a very bad Illegal Immigration problem, and a problem it is , no question about that. I moved here from Long Island 10 years ago, and Vegas has only become more dangerous, especially where the illegal's tend to live. They have formed some vicious gangs, its time to round them up and ship them out. Let them do what so many other people do and come into our country the legal way like my Grandparents did and my cousins from Italy.
Lets get the jobs booming, but hire legals.

How could immigration be a problem? If immigrants are coming, then the economy is growing and jobs are being filled. More jobs will come as the labor pool grows.

Reading the names of the people who commit the crimes in the local paper will give you an idea of the problem.

here's my post Elfyum
Thanks Elfyum,
And yeah where did my post go? Why did it get deleted? Is this the kind of world we are in? Come on wake up everybody and think of YOUR country, not some ILLEGAL BORDER JUMPER'S country. When you arrive legally then hey that's great. If my family did it, then why cant they do it? And by the way my family did not have money either, so dont say its a money issue, my family had to struggle hard to scrap up any money they could.
And please if I have something to say " Do Not delete it " , my post was 100% my opinion , and it wasn't a racist comment in any way at all. I have friends from all nationalities, but really here in Vegas the majority of the crimes are either in the lower income areas that are legal, but of lately many , many of the serious gang issues are with these illegal gangs.
Let's see how long my comment remains up this time.
Thank you --- Tony ( for those who didn't have a chance to read my old post that was deleted before many had any chance to view please scroll down )

i have lived in ephrata for the past 15 years and would highly recommend this area for family living. understand lancaster is no different than many multi-ethnic cities. even your small town communities have their problems .. our children all went to ephrata ... two graduated from drexel u in philly ..
this is a great and growing area with excellent schools ... don't forget hershey is very congested during tourist season. of course, the amish community draws a large tourist crowd .. but there is alot to be said for the country, slow-paced life of this part of lancaster county.
We are looking at moving to GA next year as it is now retirement time for my hubby. Areas around eatonton and lake sinclair are great.
by the way, the outlets are no big deal .. you can find them anywhere .. i was really surprised to see a tanger outlet near macon. my,my.... but you see there is no tax on clothing in PA .. but i will say you have to know your prices.. the outlets are not always cheaper.. and suggested retail numbers mean absolutely nothing.
take care .... PA is beautiful this time of year .. i also would avoid the poconos, millersville, and south of lanc.

Hershey is the best of the 3 options though a bit pricey in the housing and the property taxes are the highest I have seen in Central PA. Other options to consider nearby within 1/2-1 hour East from Hershey are Mechanicsburg, Camp Hill and Carlisle (very nice cities and more affortable).

I was planning on moving to Pa for the past 2 years. I am on Long Island. Unfortunatly I had a really bad realestate and my house did not sell in time for school, si here I stay. Last year we vacationed in Lancster area, we met a nurse from hershey medical, her husband was principal in one of the Hempfield schools, she said that Ephata, Manheim, Hempfield, were all excellent schools. As far as the Pocono area, my husband was offered a job in Port Jervis so we were going to live either in Milford or Lake Wallenpaupack. I was told by a friend's Dad that Delaware Valley is excellent and so is Wallenpaupack area schools. I heard that East Stroudsberg is so/so. Good luck Pa seems like a wonderful place!

Whatever you do, stay FAR away from Port Jervis schools...
Delaware Valley schools are awesome. I live in Shohola, you might want to come check out SouthEastern areas of Shohola if you work in Port Jervis. Some homes here are 20% cheaper than those in Milford, and the elementary school is cute as a button. We have some nice lakes up here too, and plenty of homes for sale. Cheaper taxes and utilities too., most areas up here do not flood.
I have it on good authority that Stroudsberg schools are experiencing some issues.

Hi, Winnie, I see you live in Shahola? I used to vacation there as a young
child with my mom and sister..We would take the train up from Hoboken,
N.J...we stayed at a place called Rockview Manor.....Do you know of any one
who is familiar with the "old" places there.....It was a big hotel type place.
You had your room and were assigned a table in the dining room....they would
come with a wagon and pick you up at the train station...we used to swim
in the Delaware river and go over to Barryville, N.Y. to a little shop that sold
all kinds of souveniers....If you know of any information on this old place or
what happened to it..I would appreciate it.....Thanks......Pat

Oh sorry but I don't...I am relatively new to Shohola. I do know that there was a wicked flood up that way in June, anything waterfront may well be gone. Sorry I can't be of more help to you.
