I have been going to a lot of different areas up in the Pocono Mtns for a long time, and I find the area to be quite pleasant, other than the fact that as of late there are a great deal of people from NYC and Northern NJ moving there because of the lower cost of housing. These areas seem to be around the Stroudsburg region in Monroe County, so I would recommend staying away from there. Currently the wife and I are looking in the Carbon County area specifically near Jim Thorpe, PA, it seems to be a nice area, so we are going to check it out.

Someone here stated something about taxes, I don't think they know what they are talking about, and until they have lived in NJ (home of the highest property taxes in the USA) they really have nothing to complain about, I know people who are paying over 10K per year in taxes in Central NJ, I am pretty sure with the exception of Philly and those paying taxes on homes with exhorbitant values not to many people are paying anywhere near that in PA. In other words take the taxes you might be paying now and compare it to what they will be in PA on the property you buy there or are looking at there.

Oh yes, Hershey, its a great place, I have also been going there at least once a year for the last few years, to see the Christmas display they do at the park there, its a nice little town.
