My husband says that when we get more than an inch of snow in october we usually get a snowy winter. He's been "unofficially" keeping track since he was a kid. What does everyone else think? I'm not one for predictions but it seems we havent really had a snowy winter (I mean above avg) in a few years.

Twilight Zone question.........
Did anyone notice 3 or 4 very bright flashes of light this morning around 6:30 a.m. in the Pocono Lake/Blakeslee area?
I was mostly awake, so it wasn't a dream. The stereo went on and off, and the flashes were poppin'. My SO saw it too, but he was more asleep. It woke him.
It wasn't lightning, and the electricity didn't go off.
btw, we have a good 4-6 inches of very wet snow. The trees are really covered and hangin' low. There were still a lot of leaves on some of them. If the winds pick up with all the snow coating....snap, crackle, pop!

I keep saying I'm going to keep track of things like that. Every year it seems to me that things happen quicker, but I'm not sure if it's just as I get older the years are going quicker too!

As requested, some pictures...Northern Wayne County around 7am, 10/28/08...
toward the field...snow-topped pumpkins...buddha with a little snow and a few roses who hung around to see the first snow. It's still coming down pretty good out there, cars going to work very slowly.
I think it's just about time for those snickerdoodles....

We have barely nothing my way. I heard there was a 14 car accident up Scranton way. A four car up by Wallenpaupak.........and 84 was closed!! Something about a sheet of ice from 115 in the Bear Creek area and up to the turnpike. What a genuine mess.......
I think we were just not ready this early for snow. I know we don't have the plow on the tractor!
Anyone living by Enya, she needs a shovel for sure..............
Who would of known snow this early? Really? I am going to be getting my salt and sand that I didn't have last year early enough. I was stuck on the mountain for 3 full days........horrible.

I think we are in for an active winter, lots of snow and below average temperatures, but this is just an opinion.

You'll get a flash from a transformer being hit by a branch or if it gets shorted out.........It will make a big flash and cause things to blink.
Nothing my way.........but I do hope I see snow before Christmas. I love snow early in the winter............I just don't like when it drags on into laste Feb and March.
