Well here at Lowe's we had to have our Christmas displays fully set by September 28. In early-August I was top-racking artificial Christmas trees with a piece of power equipment and thought to myself "Are they nuts?!"
We were sold out of most Halloween decorations by the first week of October.

I can understand retail stores wanting to set up early and be ready for the holidays, although Sept. 28 seems a little early, but to start playing Christmas music right after Halloween is a bit overkill. The official "Christmas season" doesn't start until after Thanksgiving.
