Good riddance to Circuit City. I stopped patronizing them when I learned of the unethical way they were going about "trimming overhead" in that they were laying off their experienced sales fleet in order to replace them with know-nothing kids at the bottom of the pay scale. As a retail sales person myself I value merchants that treat their employees with respect, compassion, and dignity---not ones that treat them like property. It's this very same reason I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart as well. Why patronize Circuit City and Wal-Mart when there are other big-box store chains like Wegman's and Lowe's who have proven that you CAN motivate your workforce with fair compensation and benefits while ALSO impressing most of your customers? I still can't for the life of me understand why so many people around here shop at Wal-Mart, especially when people like me who work at a different big-box store pay taxes that help to subsidize the children of many Wal-Mart employees!

Well thats partially wrong. It had a big impact at the beginning. Alot of bars/restaurants changed their establishments to accomadate the law. At first smoking was only allowed in restaurants with partioned bars where the smoking was only allowed in the bar area. After restaurants went to the expense of changing and rearranging to be able to allow patrons to smoke the law was changed and no smoking at all came about. The restaurants suffered at the beginning. Fortunately that has changed and its more acceptable. But many bars (especially where regulars frequented daily) lost business. The same thing is happening in Atlantic City. The casinos want to allow smoking in designated areas. They are fighting this now.

I would appreciate your own observations, not opinions, as it relates to this subject.
The information will be used in a thesis and will not reference any individual's comments.

You should include data from other states, like Delaware. The same gloom and doom forecasts were made in advance of the ban, and there was a dip immediately after. But then, all the folks who would not go to a smokefilled bar/club/restaurant started coming out, and guess what? The smokers came back too, and business normalized back to pre-smoking ban levels.
