Default Profound Words...

This was part of an email I got that I thought was worth sharing...I LOVE things that make people think!!!

Four things you can't recover:

The stone...........after it's thrown.

The word........after it's said.

The occasion........after it's missed.

The time...........after it's gone.

Default Crickets chirping in the NEPA forum....what's happened to this place?

Its quiet in here anymore.....this forum is definitely not as interesting as it used to be. The heated discussions have been smacked down and replaced with boring ho-hum inquiries from out-of-towners about developments and homeowner's associations..... yawn....

Agressive editing will supress spirited discourse. Regulars, burned a few times, will choose not to waste effort and time just to be judged unfit by establishment types backed by power seeking editors. Posters will find other fora or just clam up.

These forums ("city-data all") should just create wikis or an appropriate data model "structure" to enable profiling the various communities in the subect areas. Categories can be established for things like schools, apartments, traffic, restaurants, commute times, taxes etc. These are represented by the typical 10-20 questions asked by visitors regularly.

Once established these facts can be maintained and added to as needed. People seeking/contributing info can go directly to the wiki (or whatever the database/repository format is) and retrieve info or update as needed.

This way no controversial debate need take place here. This chatter can and will move elsewhere. The crickets will be happy.

Agreed, I enjoyed the spirited debates, reading or participating, but as of late this place has the death palor on it...actions of a few killed it for the many... sad......

That's 'cause people are afraid to post anything any more.... After being smacked in the head over & over & over & over by the TOS scriptures for 3 months, folks have gone over to Facebook, scan over the threads & decide not to post for fear of retribution, or just plain left the building... I basically only post jokes for those who are still hanging on here or an occasional funny post...anything else doesn't seem worth it anymore...

Nope, that "small-neighborhood" feel is dead & our "family" has been torn apart. Seems like that's the way NEPA, Florida & our whole society's going....it truly is a shame!!

Funny thing is, with the regulars driven off, theres not going to be anyone left to answer the questions of the visitors.... Paradox?????
