Talking Zoom, zoom!

Well, folks, I FINALLY took the plunge after many months of hedging and research and just purchased a 2008 Mazda3 from the fine folks at Toyota Scion of Scranton! I finally bought a car that "returns the favor" when I go to turn it on! Grrroowwwllll!!!

CONGRATULATIONS on the new car, Paul! Looks great. That's the car I'd like to get when I move too. Maybe soon. I keep hoping.

Thanks! It's such a sporty little car and is surprisingly spacious and fuel-efficient. I picked up the car last night with a full tank of gas and had to return this morning because I forgot the title to my old Ford last night! D'oh! It's about 15 miles door-to-door from my home to the dealership, so I've already put 45 miles on the car and the fuel gauge has barely moved at all! ZOOM, ZOOM!!! I actually got a great deal on it. It was a 2008 with about 17,500 miles for just over $13,000. I put $5,800 down ($5,000 cash + $800 trade-in value on my old jalopy), and I'm financing the remainder at around $200/month with a 6.75% interest rate (I have good credit though, so I might have received an "edge" with the rate). My parents and I are splitting the first year's payments 50/50 as their graduation gift to me, so I'm pretty thrilled!

Yes, I like the fuel efficiency, yet it's still sporty and looks good. Nice gift from the parents too, that's great. Lucky you!

Tell me about it! I'm estimating an annual monthly insurance bill of about $800! Think about it: Young male + New red car + DC congestion = $$$$!!!

Guys do get nailed by the insurance companies, you're monthly insurance is more than what I pay every six months. But I've been driving a lot longer than you have! LOL!

Hi, Gdude! Welcome!

I'm an outsider too - from Lawn Guyland, New Yawk. Hoping to move to PA soon, but will probably end up nearer Philly where the jobs are.

Actually the $800 was just a gross dramatic over exaggeration! LOL! Considering I was paying nearly $100/month for my 1999 Ford Contour though I can very easily see that shooting up to $150/month for a 2008 Mazda3!
