Electrician Thinking....Caution
was just wondering, how hard is it to get a PA. elect. license? My local shop steward says that when i'm laid off, currently 22 weeks, i can work out of my jurisdiction as long its not unlicensed. sounds like a good loophole, any positive info is appreciated.

Here where I live in Lake Ariel, I was told Electricians don't have to be licensed in the State of Pa. Don't know if that is county by county or not.

I've noticed you keep commemting on everything ILUVPA says - why is that?
By the way, most of us in the Hideout have a Lake Ariel address - we're not ashamed of it. We live in Lake Ariel. (some live in Hamlin).
I work in Scranton, most people have no idea where I live if I say the Hideout, so I say Lake Ariel, sometimes I even have to say Wayne County - NO BIG DEAL.
Why do you care if we say The Hideout or Lake Ariel?

My husband is also an electrician. If you a working in a larger city, you probably need a license, but in most of the rural areas it is not required. You would probably be smart to check with the particular city or township before starting a job to be sure.

At the moment, he is doing contract work for a large company, most of it out of state. He had been offered several jobs in the city of Scranton years ago, but it was not worth the hoops they wanted you to jump through to do it all according to the rules. You are right - most areas require a permit and then an inspection when the job is completed.
