NEPA Recreation
Ok so lets get a thread going about our area and the recreation activities that we do, would like to do or questions that some might have about what there is to do.
Please lets not get into skiing...We are all aware of it and the places to go...
You don't see or experience NEPA by paying $45 to go up and down a hill covered in ice.
Here is my list and I will answer any questions about it and help to steer anyone in the right direction to enjoy them.
Susquehanna River multi-day kayak trips
Lackawanna River Kayak whitewater trips and low water trips
Kayak Fishing
Snowshoeing
Rock/ice climbing
Winter camping
Hiking (off the beaten path, I don't like parks and their rules)
Mountain biking
BMX racing
Shooting ranges

Well Stroudsburg has a great Roller Skating rink on 191.
There is also a few water parks for that summer feeling, when winter is not your bag.
The new water park in Split Rock H2000.....Great Wolf has a wondeful water park and its a fun place to visit. ( another one is on the horizon )
Anyone know of any ice skating places? We're always looking for one.
I know too many people who LOVE to ski in the Poconos, to take that off of the winter fun sports.
Shawnee Mt Skiing, Blue Mt Skiing, Camelback Skiing, are some of the favorites this way.
We have skiers in the family who adore going to the slopes here. It is a wonderful, local winter sport.
Tubing and Snowboarding right along with it.
There is a small roller rink down 209 heading towards lehighton.
Off of 33 in Windgap is a rock climbing sports complex.
I never was a winter camper.......give me spring and summer for that.
I prefer to ride bikes in those seasons also.
Sometimes it becomes a sport just to find the Christmas tree........roaming those fields.......up and down hills......this way and that.......It is a seasonal sport.

Factoryville Sportsmans Club is private and nice from what I'm told...Annual fees are $100 for NRA members or $125 for non-members and that was last year.
The state has public ranges in Archbald, Gouldsboro(nightmare), Hawley and there are more but those are the ones in our area...Archbald is nice and they just rebuilt the frames and pistol range and deleaded the berms....When the weather is nice my son and I usually go once a week and I'm there quite abit on my own. There is a core group of guys who shot regularly there and we help the state maintain the range so that it stays nice and safe where you can take your children to shoot and learn. Hawley is supposed to be a nice range as well, but Gouldsboro is and was a free for all when I was there....NOT SAFE......

Lots of bowling around. I don't bowl, but the kids seem to have a bunch of birthday party bashes at the alleys. They use the one in Brodheadsville, there is one in Wind Gap, and also up in Mt Pocono is another.........Good for a winter sport.
The favorite is one that has light up, glow in the dark fun, and that happens to be in Washington NJ, but not far over our borders.
Actually if we are home during a snow storm, we have great sled riding right in my own yard. On occasion it has been a real joy to watch the fun just outside my door.

So that means another trip to the shooting range tomorrow..
