Can anyone recommend a dog kennel in the area? Need to know...all this depends on booking a flight for Xmas. We have a minature schnauzer...he has never been in a kennel, so that might be an issue. Let's see visiting my sons versus dog in a kennel for a few days! One of these, dog or sons...will be uphappy and one NOT! Let alone how I will feel with either decision.

I take my dog to Milnerhaus Kennels they are family owned for years. Very nice people and about 10.00 bucks a day without food or 7.00 and you bring your own. Remember you got to get a borading shot for your dog before anyone will take him/her.

One thing I'll also caution you about though is to be very wary of "kennel cough." Often times if a dog is not accustomed to being surrounded by other dogs in close quarters they may develop this harmless and treatable yet irksome ailment. We used to board our dog at the now-defunct Pet Care Associates in Dallas Township when we vacationed, and he developed this illness.

Default about kennel cough...

Just an FYI...many kennels now require dogs to have documentation that they received the kennel cough vaccine, along with all their other shots, before they will board them.

If your dog hasn't had that, there might be an issue with boarding.

Just wanted to give you a heads-up about that, since you said your dog was never boarded at a kennel before.

Good luck in your search!

Yes I know they have to be up to date on their shots even to get groomed. We had a vet appointment for him last week at VCA Animal Hospital in Dunmore, and he had a fever! ...so he is on meds right now. Shots later this week, providing no fever. Have no idea why we had one. He is a very nervous dog in strange places. Also something we all have to consider regarding a trip and boarding him. Thanks for all your info everyone.
