Default High School in Forty Fort/Kingston?

Hi Everyone:

We are now expanding our search to Forty Fort and Kingston. There seems to be homes which are large enough, pretty and not too expensive in these two areas. We found the Jr. High School to be Wyoming West JHS, but are not sure of the High School and need to know something about it.
The homes we are interested in, in those areas are near Rt. 309 and Wyoming Ave. Would anyone know which High School would be for these areas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know if any of these areas would go to G.A.R. or Coughlin?

Thanks again

Go for Kingston or Forty Fort, stay out of Wilkes-Barre Area school district. Kingston and Forty Fort would be my top 2 choices of where to move if I had to move to Luzerne County. Nice towns without all of the problems of Wilkes-Barre. From what I have heard, Wyoming Valley West schools are OK.

Coughlin High School is the best out of the 3 in W-B Area School District, and it looks like a who's who of the juvenile detention center when school lets out at Coughlin....so I can imagine what Meyers and GAR are like.

Kingston/Forty Fort school district is Wyoming Valley West. The school district is decent and at one time was one of the better ones. It fares much better than the WB schools. The students also wear uniforms which isn't a bad thing.

The Kingston/Forty Fort area house wise are ok as well. The police force is pretty much up on things if that helps - BUT Kingston barely and I mean barely reports any of their crimes in the newspaper (there has been a long fight over this with the local papers and Kingston PD).

The houses in that area are also larger, more bedrooms, attic space, etc. Make sure you also check the tax assessment base for prior and estimated new taxes if this is a concern. Another thing you might want to consider is the flood zone - well trying to not be in it that is.

FWIW - Kingston/Forty Fort is a much better place than WB.

Sheena,

I think you'd be really happy in Kingston.. Rt 11 Has everything you'll need and your not far from shopping in wilkes barre if need be.. the Price Chopper in Edwardsville on Rt 11 (which is wyoming avenue in kingston) is open 24 hours!! I know the area your referring to, Nothing Scary around there and easy access to 81 VIA 309. If you have a Pet, theres a Vet on Rt 11 in Kingston.. a 24 hour walgreens down rt 11 in kingston. Also ask your Realtor about Flooding. Although I think your on OK Ground where your referring to., i know some of the lower kingston area can get flooded in heavy rains.
