Scran, I hope this doesn't put your photo tours out of business.

Yep it is-- was hoping I'd find myself in the yard or my cat in the window or something, but no luck. Looks like ~July of this year based on the state of things.
Went by your childhood home yesterday -- looks really great with the holiday lights up.

Same with them! They were doing some outside work on the house right around the time Google did their drive-by, but no such luck
They actually just sent me some pics today of their Christmas lights & decorations. It really makes me miss home even more at this time of year since my neighborhood here in San Diego just doesn't seem to get into the Christmas spirit!
Happy holidays to you and your family!

Thanks, likewise, and hope you find some more holiday spirit out there in San Diego.. Never spent xmas in a warm climate, but seems like it'd be tough to make it feel like xmas.

I hope y'all are this enthusiastic when some thief cases your home via Street View/internet and you come home to a ransacked house with all your valuables missing.
Street View should be illegal.

Give me a break! :::sigh::: People are going to case your house because they are casing the neighborhood and you look ripe. Got your alarm system sticker on you property visible from the street, lights on at night, doors and windows locked? There are probably just as many people robbed, sorry burglarized, by chance (if not more) than are the victim of some elaborate theft ring.
Google Street View has its place. I use it to check landmarks when I am mapping out directions, turns, in an unfamiliar area. We're living the golden age of this particular adventure.
That said, I don't like the Big Brother aspect of the whole thing. Sometimes we can have too much information.
This particular system will break down because of change: tear down, build, length of time to update. Satellites can already spot the piece of gum stuck to the walk in front of your house, so what's the rub?
