They give you the tube. You can either do a 3 hour pass (MORE than enough time, trust me) for I believe it was $24, or a full day pass for a bit more. You can go down sitting in your tube, on your stomach, or attached to someone else's tube (my husband and I had a ball doing this). Just remember to DRAG YOUR FEET when you get to the bottom (I ended up hitting the wall a couple times...lol) There WAS snow, but you might want to call and double check, because this was Sat. night we went, and yesterday, Sunday, we had 60 degree temps.

As for the fried ice cream, it really is something. It's a ball of vanilla ice cream in a crunchy coating, deep fried, then topped with a strawberry honey sauce and whipped cream. Truly to die for As for the Old Forge Pizza, do a search on this forum and you will find several threads with good recommendations in it for where to go. Coming from NJ and used to the NY style pizza I didn't think I'd like it, but I was pleasantly surprised! I won't go into it here, as there are several threads for it already...lol.

Revello's in Old Forge. But some other favorites of mine are Maroni's (West Scranton), Two Brothers (Dunmore), Roseanna's (West Scranton).

Why? How do you know what I like? I am very adventurous and I enjoy savoring regional and ethnic delights from all over. I love fried green tomatoes and boiled nuts from South Carolina, hearts of palm salad and shave ice from Hawaii, Variniki and Borsht from the former Soviet Union.
You are all right there are some very provincial people on Long Island who constantly whine about the paucity of good pizza and bagels once they leave "The Island" but there are provincial people EVERYWHERE!

I'll second Go Phillies' suggestion of Revello's. I'm really not an aficionado of Old Forge-style pizza, but for some reason or other I do like theirs. I also like the "white" pizza at Colarusso's in Avoca; it's just like an overgrown grilled cheese sandwich with a pound of grease!

Add me to the list that is going to scope out Fresno's with my friends soon. It would be great to try some fried ice cream with a great nighttime view of the city beneath us. I often wondered why a wealthy restaurateur never gobbled up prime real estate near the 307 overlook to offer great patio dining with the city skyline at your feet.

UMMMMMMMM...Brentwood my friend is not a nice area, a very few parts of it are nice but as a whole it is not a place I would want to visit. Now Port Jefferson aka the Port..that is a nice little town with cool shops on the North shore. You have a better chance at getting jumped in Brentwood than you do the projects of Scranton...the deal with the bagels is the WATER...Long Island really does have great water and the bagels are boiled...they are the best I have ever had...ANYWHERE. Other than the bagel thing, I am very open to trying new foods. I liked the white Old Forge pizza, but it did seem more like cheesy bread to me, IMHO.

One thing to remember about Long Island Girls...you can marry a rich one from the North Shore or a fun one from the South Shore...guess which one I am.
