Default Pics at church

the catholic church in hawley was nice enough to let us take pictures inside... all pictures were shot in hdr to preserve the dynamic range.. you had super bright windows and dark woods all which were out of range for all cameras if they werent shot in hdr

Beautiful pics mathjak107. I like those old fashioned parishes with the stained glass windows. The colors on those windows are beautiful. I don't know what hdr is, but I am guessing it is high def resolution?

I went to St. Gregory's Abbey down here in Oklahoma. It makes for a great day of photography.

hdr is high dynamic range... we take 3 different exposures and merge them into 1

Beautiful pics. I've never been in that church, but St. Thomas More in Lake Ariel used to look very similar to that when I was a kid (before they remodeled and "moderinized").

Yes...there still a small section of the old church where they say weekday masses...a very small part but it does bring back memories. St. Thomas didn't have that beautiful ceiling though. St. Thomas is where I go now...so PLAIN. I guess it was the cheap way to go.

Yeah, when the NY/NJ exodus began, the old church became too small, so they built a bigger one with no warmth or character. I haven't attended services there since shortly after the new part was built, but it does make me happy that they kept part of the old church intact. The old rectory was kind of neat too. St. Mary's in Ledgedale and St. Rita's in Gouldsboro are also nice, older-style churches, although very small. Unfortunately, with the number of parishes consolidating, I will be very surprised if they are still being used in the next five or ten years.

Nice shots, Mathjak!! I need to get out more often!! I just hate leaving my 4-legged son home alone on the few days I have off though.
