Nanticoke Spider Infestation?
I moved to Nanticoke, PA in October of 2007 and immediately noticed an abundance of brown spiders conglomerating outside my baywindows of my bedroom. They range from timy babies to giant beastly quarter sized cannibals and they put on quite a show come sun down. Thye thrive in the summer and I am unable to open my windows and it is costing be a fortune in elctric bills plus I am really missing my fresh air! My landlord installed new windows this past summer and I noticed a difference in the amount I find around the apartment but no matter what I spray or how many massacars i go on (there been nights where I've killed them in he 20s even though Grandpa told me never to kill a spider becaue they are good luck) it seems they come back with a vengance and the tiny ones as well as the full growns find thier way in somehow.
I've asked around and others have told me that they have the same problems with the spideres and no one has remiedied the situation. i noticed when I go to the rRte Aid down town at night they are competely infested with them outsided under the lights by the windows.
I can't find out which type of sppider this is or how to rid myself of them but I am terrified of them. I've tried every home remidy. I live in an apartment building and have suggested my landlord call an exterminator but he laughed an shrugged it off and told me to "wait till the fall". Fall came and went, I found the sumer to be the worst.
They are dark brown with light brown rings on thir legs and a light brown patter on thier bodies. Thier bodies are narrow and they range from tiny to very large, I'd say up to 2 to 3 inches in diameter.
Any information anyone could share with me regarding this matter would be greatly apprietciated. Thank you so much in advance!

They are probably Wolf spiders. Do you notice them on webs that have a tunnel hole that they come out of? I have these all over here too. Not so bad as you explain but i do have them. (i'd say this is the spider i see most often)
Here is a site with common PA spiders. THey have pictures so you can compare and find out if they are dangerous or not. The wolf spider will bite but it says their venum wont cause any serious issues.
Commonly Encountered PA Spiders - Penn State Entomology Department Fact Sheet
As for how to get rid of them.... did you try the spray stuff you can get at home depot or lowes? I've found it works good but you need to keep applying weekly to keep them away. (every time it rains it'll wash it away). As for an exterminator my prior employer used to have one come monthly and these spiders still walked across the floor!!

Oh gosh, your freakin' me out. Albrightville is too close to my hometown. Yikes...........
They seem to be as much of an issue as our area has with the "stink bugs" ........Those having been introduced in Allentown, in I think it was 1995, from a shippment in from Asia and transported by truck.
I have to spray the house in spring and in fall to try to keep them away. They can live in winter because they have a antifreeze type of gel ( just to example it that way) in their body. They know how to harbor themselves in the confines of ones home......I see them on my windows in the summer months. They hide in warm spots in the winter........ I spray just to keep the majority away. I'd sure hate to add spiders into the loop...........please no!

Summering - why do you mention Albrightsville? I didn't see it referred to in the posts before yours (I have a home in Albrightsville, that's why I'm curious. No spider problem since we bought in August.)

i'm in albrightsville and i posted that i have spiders. I wouldn't call it an "ifestation" just the wolf spider is by far the spider i see the most up here. There are a few others. but 90% of the things i see running around are them.

Summering - Ah, now I see. I have to be more observant. ;-)
PocoPC - We have a part-time family vacation, part-time short term rental home in Towamensing Trails. Where are you located?
