It is great to have you back George. I hope your trip was a pleasant one. I wish we could all be with you in Florisa enjoying the nice weather. Did you get frost bite while you were here? LOL.

I've been "spot-reading" some of the threads (there's NO way I'm gonna catch up on 3 weeks worth of posts!!) & I'm glad all y'all are keepin' on!!

OkayDorothy...we traveled through 10 states to visit with friends & family in Pa & NY.

Mrs. Summering...are......................you.......... .............down................................. .South..........yet?? If so, hope it's nice & warm for you!! It was 2 (with a windchill of -14) when we were in NEPA, so we didn't do or see all we wanted to...

Paul....you get sick WAY WAY too much!! Eat the limes I left you for vitamin C!!

Enya....we waited at the bar in the Woodlands, but no beautiful women were there so I KNEW you couldn't make it!!

I downloaded all 458 pix & it's gonna take a while to sort them & get them "albumized" on Picassa, but I'll leave you with a tantalizing view of a tropical guy outta his element.....

No need to blush!! I only speak the truth!!

The Woodlands was BEAUTIFUL!! (thanks for the recommend Mrs. Summering!!) By far the nicest hotel we stayed at on the trip!! My favorite was the heat lamp in the bathroom....you KNOW Jungle George was stationed under that as much as possible!!

I'm very disappointed that it was so damm COLD when we were there!! We never made it to Scranton or Eden Cafe. There was NO WAY we were gonna walk around much outside with that windchill!!

We did see downtown Wilkes Barre & it was very beautiful as far as old architecture, but desolate. We couldn't believe there was a bar or tavern on almost every corner or that you could eat at a deli & drink beer til you drop with your meal & then get behind the wheel!!

A water pipe busted on the pump of our irrigation system (thank God my cuz was here to shut off the breaker) & the jungle hasn't had water in a week...I KNEW something would happen..."Murphy's Law".

Now, having slept 12 hours last night I feel more refreshed after 3700 miles of driving, so after unpacking & getting back to abnormal, I'll download all 400+ pix & let y'all know about the trip!!

Hope you're all well & thank you guys for all the "you're missed" DM's!! Right backatcha!!
Welcome back, glad to hear you made it back home. Looking forward to the details of your trip. Happy New Year by the way!

Yes. Drunk driving is tolerated here in NEPA even better than homosexuality is, but that's for a separate rant. LOL! It's amazing that so many locals condone under-age drinking as a "rite of passage" (until one of their darling little angels flips mommy's Mercedes SUV, at which point the attorneys' phones start ringing off the hook). It's also honestly sad that when someone is convicted of a DUI, everyone brushes it off as "no big deal." I've served as a designated driver before. It's not all that bad, and best of all you can know that ALL of your friends will make it home safely that night! NEPA's love of alcohol amuses me when these same people plunking down $50 a week on liquor complain they can't afford their city taxes! LOL!

It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, right?

I've unpacked all the bags & suitcases & there's now crap EVERYWHERE!!!

So, before I get involved in sorting, washing & putting away, here's a Reader's Digest version of our trip....

Wed night to Thursday we drove from Fl to Richmond Va & stayed at a Red Roof Inn overnight.

Friday we drove from Richmond to Doylestown Pa & stayed at the pig sanctuary cottage. Beautiful rustic place!! We stayed there Thursday 'til Sunday (and saw our friend Annie's concert Saturday night...she even got me up on stage with her!!).

Sunday we drove from Doylestown to Wilkes Barre, settled in at The Woodlands, drove to Lowe's to get cemetary wreaths, got pierogi at Mom & Pop's in WB to bring home & had "dinner" (pierogi of course) at a deli with a big cow outside of it!!

Monday we drove to Breslau to see my aunt (who I haven't seen in 40 years) & met my cousins too. Then we drove to Nanticoke, saw my grandma's old house, put wreaths on my grandparent's graves, picked up all kinds of goodies at the Sanitary Bakery (unbelieveably good & SO CHEAP!!) & then went back to the Woodlands to warm up. We were gonna go to Scranton & eat in Old Forge, but it was too damm cold. We ended up at a Chinese buffet close by.

Tuesday we drove from Wilkes Barre to Poughkeepsie NY via 81 & 17 to see the scenery & got to our friend's house to spend a week & Christmas. While we were there we drove around my old stomping grounds, went antique-ing & had lotsa fun!!

New Year's Eve we were gonna drive down to Lawn Gisland to spend 5 days with other friends, but got socked in with icy snow. We ended up driving down New Year's Day & stayed there 'til Monday night. While we were there we traveled to NYC & saw the Met, upstate to Ossining & saw a Gothic Mansion, & went to an outdoor Holiday lightshow in Sleepy Hollow.

We left Lawn Gisland Monday night & made it to Fayeteville NC Tuesday morning. Stayed over at a Red Roof Inn 'til yesterday morning, & made it back home last night....

PHEW!!!!

There's lotsa details, but I don't wanna bore anybody...

All I could think was "drinking problem anyone??" Even here in "party-hardy in the sun" Florida we don't have close to the amount of drinkeries!!

The best word I can use for my "outsider" view of Wilkes Barre is "tired". It had a forlorn, worn-out look...BUT!!!! I can truthfully say that the friendliest people BY FAR were in NEPA!!! From the "kids" on up to the "oldsters" (sorry Paul, I just had to say it...) everyone was friendly & down-to-earth!!!

Sorry we missed you at Lowe's when you were sick Paul (hopefully at least they gave you the message & the limes....) & hope you feel better!!!

Hey....Hi...that wasn't boring. I was trying to imagine the route.......I remember the ice storm coming in. I went up to Binghamton on Christmas Eve for a party......vis 81 and 17. Stayed off the turnpike do to the weather. I'm so glad you loved the Woodlands........such a pretty place.
Those Red roofs are so good about pets, thats what I like about them.!
It will be great to see it all in pictures.
Hey, up on stage with Annie...........and it was a sold out concert. You are our CD stage star!
BTW ...yes Summering is South. I'm lovin' the weather............the ocean too.
But, you always miss the mountains when south, yes..........ya' do.
Glad to see you back and waiting now for the pictures. ( after you save the jungle )
