Has anyone had a positive experience with any professionals who do taxes in the Pocono Lake, Blakeslee, Mt. Pocono corridor? I'll be looking for an appointment sometime after the last week in February.

Thanks!!

I met a self-employed accountant at work a few yrs ago when she was doing some consulting for the firm. I was impressed with her professionalism, work ethic, and knowledge, so have kept in touch. If you haven't found anyone yet, I'd recommend Pamlan Brown, Business Support Sevices, bss01@epix.net Ph 570-643-3541. Pam Brown is located somewhere there, in the P. L. - Blakeslee area, so I believe the location's where you were looking.

Thank you very much, gal_in_NEPA!! Also, thanks for the heads up via direct message. It will be a few weeks until I can get in touch with her, but I really appreciate your suggestion.

I don't seem to be able to locate Pam Brown.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for a general account in the Pocono Lake/Blakeslee area?

We just started using a tax preparer in Honesdale. I am not quite sure how good she is yet. She is slow but I am hoping that she knows what she is doing. Her name is Debbie Blockberger and her number is 570-253-5029. She does seem to know what she is talking about when it comes to the Pa. laws. I am getting my taxes probably by next week, I can let you know then how she did, but just a note I am paying this year and I cannot get out of that soooooooo. Good luck.

mathjack, I will probably run my taxes through there....with some friend assistance, but I'm not comfortable doing them myself. There was such a mess after I was widowed, and I've become used to having a preparer.

roxxy, thanks for the suggestion. Honesdale is quite a ways from where I am in Monroe County. Lovely town though!!

rockky its so easy you would be amazed... as complicated as our return can be because we own alot of investments as well as partners in a family real estate business our own personal returns are so easy to do with turbo.....

all you need to do is basically type the info in from your w2 and enter your statements...in fact depending who you invest with it can download everything all by itself... i use fidelty investments and turbo downloads pages and pages of stock transactions automatically...

MathJak: If you only have W2 income and interest income with a few simple capital gains issues your find with Turbo tax for your Federal Return. PA has some unusual issues for business owners. They do not allow you to aggregate income from different businesses. On the personal side they do not allow you to carry forward or back losses. So if you have carryforwards from your NY residency use them up prior to making the full time move to PA. For those moving into PA, be sure to sell your house prior to establishing residency in PA or your going to PA 6% of your gain. They also have some unusual viewpoints on depreciation. If you unincorporated they have there own version of Sch C, E or F. Id watch out for Harrisburg if I were you.
