Let me know when you're plan is figured out, because i want out too and i can't figure it out.

Any place is fresh when you first move there. If you're the type that
just loves to find fault, then after only a couple years it's the same
old, same old.

I've been here for seven years and the city does nothing for me. I'm not excited about living here or anything going on here. Sorry to be so apathetic about Scranton, but I am. A few nice new buildings will not make this city great, I don't see Doherty's vision.

The problem with NoVa and all of the DC area is that its so expensive. Most people I know who move there are dying to get out after a few years...not necessarily to NEPA, but to somewhere a little less expensive and hectic than DC.

I'm only paying $1,135/month + utilities for a 1-BR flat. Expensive? Psha!

Scranbarre, you're getting killed at that rent... My girlfriend lives in the center of DC in a great 2 bedroom apt for 1150 a month (her share, not total). is reston really worth it? why not live in the district?

Unfortunately my office is based in Herndon, and my clients can be as far west as Chantilly. It would be a miserable commute everyday since there is no Metro accessibility between Reston/Herndon and DC (there should be to reduce the horrid traffic congestion, but the stupid NIMBYs down here fight EVERYTHING! ) From where I live now I could walk to my office.

Unless your girlfriend has a roommate or lives in a questionable part of DC (Northeast?) there's no way she's living in a 2-BR for $1,150/month. Reston would play second fiddle if my situation was different, as I'd MUCH prefer to live in a more walkable area "inside the Beltway," but at a meager $42,000 salary what in God's name could I afford on my own there? As far as roommates are concerned now that I've started seriously dating (as of this coming Thursday night's date I might be officially "taken") I want privacy to be able to bring my better half home and cuddle on the couch while watching a movie or cook a candlelit dinner without having roomies "spying" on us with me being forced to say "SCRAM!"

Now that DC is about to legalize same-sex marriage (while VA has banned both same-sex marriage and same-sex civil unions, much to my chagrin) I am convinced in the long-term I'd put in for a transfer to an office of ours nearer to the district so I could live in a place like Adams-Morgan, Dupont Circle, or even hoighty-toighty Georgetown, but for now I'm out in 'da burbs.

NORTHWEST, three blocks from all the hotels on connecticut ave. Didnt realize that you went that far west, i wouldnt live inside the belt either if all i had to do was travel out of it everyday. thats crazy. my sales territory stretches into that area and while commuting isnt bad down there (relative to NY metro), i couldnt do it everyday.
