Any no BS martial arts schools near Back Mountain???
Does anyone know of any martial arts schools within 30 minutes of the back mountain area that are old school and not all about point fighting and selling belts? I have trained in Muay Thai, Tang Soo Do, Kenpo, Mixed Martial Arts, Eskrima, Kickboxing, and Aikido and I have for the most part only trained at schools where blood, bruises, and the occasional break or sprain is normal, expected and dont bring law suits or a threat of one. I would be willing to train in most of the arts I have experience with or try something new, but Muay Thai would definitely be my first choice. I would also consider a mixed style that that is less than 30% grappling. I think Im getting to an age where I wouldnt want to go full contact again, but it needs to at least be heavy hitting with light protection.
Im recovering from a pretty serious injury and havent trained in about 6 years, but Im looking to try something in around 6 months or so, does anyone have any ideas or am I SOL?

Forgot to mention that head strikes must be accepted during sparring and an occasional accidental KO shouldnt be a big deal, but certainly not encouraged. I wont train anywhere that doesnt allow head strking and I know that has become harder to find lately.

If your joints have issues and you still want to train regularly you should look into Aikido. In my prime at 5'9" 220 pounds and very solid I was thrown through the air (and I mean THROWN through the air) by a master who was about 5'6" and maybe 110 pounds soaking wet...oh and he was old enough to make my grand father look young. Its very easy on the joints and allows the transitional use of most weapons through hand movement and really focuses on energy redirection.
I still prefer striking though...go figure
