Old Forge has a lot of potential in my eyes. It has good solid roots and great people. With a new street scape downtown it could truly be a showplace. I feel the same way about Hyde Park in West Scranton. New sidewalks, Victorian-era streetlights, benches, trees, brick crosswalks, community banners, American flags, etc. can go a long way to improving the aesthetic appeal of a community. Just look at Pittston. In December I almost shed a tear to head downtown at night and see large wreaths with big red ribbons adorning the new Victorian-era lighting because I saw this as a pivotal first step in the impending revival of Tomato Town. Old Forge and Hyde Park could both use these sorts of improvements as well.
