Summerville is advertised a lot and I think that I would love to go see the town myself. It is above Charleston. We are taking a bus trip to Charleston and the Citadel in Feb. so I will be close, but........I can't go off on my own.
I know they say that about Myrtle Beach. But.........you won't feel that.
Myrtle is so spread out. Outside areas like Murrells Inlet and Socastee are a joy for people to live in. The Costal Mall was built a few years ago and we head there for movies and shopping. It is so light, and bright inside.
Lots of skylights........so on a dull, dark day...there is till brightness.
Places in Pawleys Island are quite quiet and peaceful.......that area is a joy. Walking the huge Broadway at the Beach is a fun thing to do, lots of restaurants and shops. I have never felt a threat at all. I have come here over an 8 year timeperiod.
Maybe the inner areas of Myrtle, perhaps at night.......But the outter areas are peaceful and enjoyable. ( the north areas having too much traffic in the summer for sure)
In any case.........Summerville is the up and coming place. Charming from what I can tell. If I do get to take a ride that way.......and I'd love to....
It would be such good information to know. The homes they show with porches are full of charm.

[quote=AmeriKenArtist;7037214]People fall in love with old homes, especially the old stone and brick structures which look so pretty.

AmeriKenArtist..
Stone houses are excellent insulators. Even stonefronts are great.
As the wife of a mason, I'm surprised you'd say something like that.
We had a stone and brick ranch and last year, we only paid 1500 in oil.... not bad. I'm in a frame house, with lots of windows.........that's a money pit.

Windows are often the biggest culprit of heat loss....especially the older houses.
