Looks like the stimulus package is going to pass next week. Based on that assumption does Scranton and Wilkes-Barre have their infrastructure wish list ready to compete for the Federal allocations? Seems like every local and state governments have theirs all ready to go. Just wondering what Projects Scranton & WB officials have planned?

Doherty's probably looking for some of that money to put up a statue of himself at Nay Aug. He's actually self-absorbed enough to think that it would stimulate the economy.

I thought he was for same-sex marriages judging by his agenda at whitehouse.gov, under the civil rights tab and" Support for the LGBT Community" section. So, our arguments stand.

Ed, he's for "civil unions" or whichever term is the current "politically correct" one. He opposes same-sex "marriage", but wants gay couples who are committed to each other to have the same legal benefits as straight couples since they are taxpaying citizens too.

The difference is in the terminology.

Nothing about the man with the local address who snatched a purse, or the local man who shot himself in the hand while waving his service weapon around in the frozen food department?

Guess they can't all be from the tri-state area, huh?

Lt. Leonard Namiotka, an 18-year-department veteran and head of the city's crime prevention unit, was allegedly showing his weapon to someone in the freezer section at the rear of Brunetti's Shur-Save Super Market, 441 N. Main Ave., at 4:20 p.m. when the gun accidentally discharged, striking the off-duty officer in the hand with a.40-caliber round.

A city man in police custody on drug charges admitted Sunday to stealing a woman’s purse outside a grocery store a day earlier, police said.

Thomas Coss, 27, no address available, told police he stole a purse from a 64-year-old woman as she was leaving Gerrity’s Supermarket on Meadow Avenue, police said.
Thats funny it didn't say anything about waving his pistol around. The glock 17 has a funny safety or lack there of, but it certainly wouldn't have shot him in the hand if he was "WAVING IT AROUND".

NO ADDRESS is pretty much self-explanatory.

Good points. Something to think about.

No...the local crooks tend to be the drug addicts who buy their drugs from out-of-town dealers...stealing to support their habit. (with the exception of the cop whose gun accidentally fired, of course)

Although on that topic, the Times is always quick to print a story that makes a Scranton police officer look bad, but things like this would get covered up if it happened to the mayor or a crony.

Default Pork, Pork, Pork......

Ok dear political people.......I just can't let this pass by....and I know there is many opinions here.
Just tell me please......
What is the stimulus for having "Golf Frisbee" funds......?
What is the stimulus for having " ATV Parks" funds.......?
And.........thank goodness the "grass seed for the mall costing a couple of million was yanked off the list"

Seriously, could some of these frivolous fun-bees have waited awhile.

We are trying to get saved from a depression.

I think the "pork" is out there in full supply. Obama says " no pork"
Well, I think he is missing the truck that just passed by....IMHO

Let's think about this one.

You realize someone would have had to do the job of renovating the mall, right? And that "the job" means a "job," as in "work" during some pretty trying times. And you realize that people who have jobs can contribute to the economy to an extent that the unemployed or underemployed cannot, right? If you realize that, then why are you against something that will clearly provide a stimulus?
