Scranton equals cosmopolitan, as in Noxen equals roaring metropolis  .But if you consider 99% white with irish roots, and 1% all other races cosmopolitan, then they may have a nice room waiting for you at Clarks Summit state hospital! Scranton is probably the most "white" city of it's size that I have ever seen. |

There is nothing wrong with that at all, but it is the exact opposite of cosmopolitan. The definition of cosmopolitan is a large, mixed, city with cultures and ethnicities from all over the world. A city that the whole world is familiar with. New York, San Francisco, London, Paris ect are cosmopolitan cities. Uhh... I don't think Scranton makes the cut...maybe in Mayor Doherty's mind  , but that's about it. |

What did I say that was offensive? Scranton and NEPA as a whole is a very "white" area. Scranton is a very white city for a city it's size. Cosmopolitan is a world recognizable city, with people of many cultures and ethnicities from all over the world. New York is a cosmopolitan city. Scranton is a predominately white city (by an overwhelming majority) with many generations of the same families being born and raised in the city. That's not a bad thing at all, but it isn't cosmopolitan. It's almost the exact opposite of cosmopolitan. Scranton is more like a small town where everybody knows everybody, everyone knows thier neighbors, generations of the same families, people show up at city counsel meetings and rant and rave, like in a small town ect. |
