Scranton Rehearsal Dinner ideas?
Hi, I am looking to find a great place to hold my rehearsal dinner in Scranton. Anyone have any places they could suggest, or have used. Looking for a open bar and buffet for about 50 people in a nice place. Not from the area.

Well if steak and seafood is alright, you can try Coopers; it is a Scranton institution and a favorite eating place for the Clinton's

The Regal Room in Olyphant has great food, and great service.

Rossi's Ristorante in Archbald and the Villa Maria II in West Scranton both are nice places with great food and banquet facilities.

Coopers will let you rent the lighthouse section, which could probably fit 50. It has it's own bar and it's right offt he main entrance.

Cooper's has a great atmosphere, but their food is really nothing to write home about. If impressing your guests with delicious entrees isn't a priority, then by all means go for it.

That's what I was thinking. Cooper's is kind of overpriced for run-of-the-mill food. I even think Red Lobster is better than Cooper's, and that's not saying much when the chain seafood place is better than the locally owned place.

If your budget is on the more "liberal" side, then the Radisson in Downtown Scranton is always a good bet as well.

Depending on when you need it, Via Appia in Taylor is nice. One of my girls worked there for several years. The pasta verde is great. Marie is the one to talk to.
La Cucina is also nice. It's owned by the same family as Via Appia. A lot of times, during the day, Marie is here too. I'm not sure if they do buffet, but I've been to gatherings with about 50 & they serve "family style." Lots of big bowls that you get your own.
